Veritatis Splendor

"Keep your eyes fixed upon Jesus, who inspires and perfects our faith" --Hebrews 12:2

Pope Benedict XVI before our Lord

And only where God is seen does life truly begin. Only when we meet the living God in Christ do we know what life is. We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution.
Each of us is the result of a thought of God.
Each of us is willed,
each of us is loved,
each of us is necessary.
There is nothing more beautiful than to be surprised by the Gospel, by the encounter with Christ. There is nothing more beautiful than to know Him and to speak to others of our friendship with Him.
~Pope Benedict XVI, Homily April 24th, 2005

Zeitgeist of Vatican II

An interesting article has just gone up, by Matt Abbott, that gives (what appears to be) a decent overview of the "rise and fall" of the Catholic Church in America in the last 40+ years. But don't think this is just another "attack on Vatican II" -- nope, Abbott goes to the heart of the matter, showing how the "reinterpretation" of Vatican II was merely the method of transmission of the infection of the Sexual and Cultural Revolution.

Loaded with statistics and information on all aspects of the moral degrading of society, from the percentages of marriages ending in divorce (then and now) to the use of contraception -- this one will give you a good perspective on what has happened to our society (who, less than 50 years ago, saw 75% of Catholics attending weekly Mass, and who today sees only 25% coming into church on Sunday).

How the Zeitgeist Affected the Catholic Church in the U.S. after Vatican II
