Veritatis Splendor

"Keep your eyes fixed upon Jesus, who inspires and perfects our faith" --Hebrews 12:2

Pope Benedict XVI before our Lord

And only where God is seen does life truly begin. Only when we meet the living God in Christ do we know what life is. We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution.
Each of us is the result of a thought of God.
Each of us is willed,
each of us is loved,
each of us is necessary.
There is nothing more beautiful than to be surprised by the Gospel, by the encounter with Christ. There is nothing more beautiful than to know Him and to speak to others of our friendship with Him.
~Pope Benedict XVI, Homily April 24th, 2005

In His Own Words...

Will we see the daily slaughter of 4000 children by abortion continue for another 30 years?

John Kerry is determined to make just such a thing happen. He voted six times to keep partial-birth abortion legal. He voted at least 25 times to force taxpayers to pay for abortions to which they object. And here are a few of his quotes"

"The right to choose is a fundamental right, based on each woman's right to privacy. Neither the government or any person has the right to infringe on that freedom." — John Kerry, Congressional Record

"The premise that the fetus is a living human being…is a religious and not a scientific belief." — John Kerry, letter to constituent

"The Freedom of Choice Act…would codify …Roe v. Wade…and assure woman access to safe and legal abortion…I have signed on as a co-sponsor." — John Kerry, letter to constituent

"I also believe that federal funding should be made available to poor women seeking an abortion." — John Kerry, letter to constituent

"I am prepared to filibuster, if necessary, any Supreme Court nominee who would turn back the clock on a woman's right to choose." — John Kerry, AP, June 20, 2003

"We need to take on this president and the forces of intolerance on the other side…. We will never go back. We will never, ever let this right be taken away!" — John Kerry, Talk to NARAL Dinner, January 2003

My friends, the "forces of intolerance" he is referring to include you!

On the other hand, President Bush has signed several major pieces of legislation (such as the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act) which have increased the legal status of the unborn child and restored, in law, some essential pre-requisites to ending abortion. In fact, his signature banned an abortion procedure for the first time since Roe v. Wade.

The president speaks of the "culture of life" and has nominated many federal judges who uphold it in law. He clearly said in his speech at the Republican convention that our nation must make room for the unborn child, and has repeatedly called for us to welcome them in life and protect them in law.

Friends, please be sure you are informed, and inform others, of the positions of the candidates on this most crucial moral issue, and on other issues. (More information is at www.VotingInfo.org) And please get out and vote!
